The company, which runs trendy com- munal office spaces, said Tuesday that Neumann will remain non- executive chairman. Artie Minson, formerly co- president and chief financial of- ficer, and Sebastian Gunningham, formerly vice chairman, will be- come joint CEOs. WeWork had trouble selling its IPO after revealing massive losses. It also revealed that Neumann used WeWork stock to secure a $500 million personal loan and got paid $6 million for a trademark on the word He returned the money following the backlash. New overtime rule in place: The Labor Department issued a rule Tuesday that will make overtime pay available to 1.3 million addi- tional workers, though the pro- posal replaces a more generous one advanced by former President Barack Obama.

The department is raising the annual salary companies must pay in order to exempt workers from overtime to $35,568 from $23,660. Americans earning less typically must be paid time and a half for any work over 40 hours a week. Many retail and fast-food work- ers are paid just above the $23,660 threshold, which has been in place since 2004, and required to work overtime without extra pay. Under Obama, the Labor Department proposed raising the threshold to more than $47,000. Consumer confidence falls: U.S.

consumer confidence posted the biggest drop this year as Ameri- expectations for the econ- omy and the job market deterio- rated, posing a risk to the house- hold spending that is underpin- ning growth. The Conference index decreased to 125.1 in September from 134.2 in August. The level of confidence remains high enough to suggest that consumers will continue to support the record- long U.S. expansion, though spending may moderate. VW bosses charged: German prosecutors charged Volkswa- chief executive, chairman and former CEO with stock ma- nipulation for not telling inves- tors in 2015 about the emissions scandal.

CEO Herbert Diess, Chairman Hans Dieter Poetsch and former CEO Martin Winterkorn were ac- cused of deliberately informing markets too late about the huge costs to VW that would result from the scandal, which erupted when regulators discovered that millions of diesel cars had been fitted with software designed to thwart pollution tests. Google wins in court: Handing Google a major victory, the Euro- pean highest court ruled Tuesday that to be forgot- rules do not apply outside the 28-nation bloc. For five years, people in Europe have had the right to ask Google and other search engines to delete links to outdated or embarrassing information about themselves, even if it is true. More recently, privacy regulator wanted the rule applied to all of search engines, even those outside Europe. The European Court of Justice declared there is obligation under EU law for a search engine to abide by the rule be- yond the EU.

Comscore fined $5 million: Data- measurement firm Comscore set- tled fraud charges with the Secu- rities and Exchange Commission and will pay a $5 million penalty. Former CEO Serge Matta will pay $700,000 and give Comscore back $2.1 million from his pay and sales of company stock. Comscore and Matta did not admit or deny the charges. The commission said Com- score fraudulently inflated its revenue by $50 million between 2014 and 2016, lied about adding new customers and said sales of a flagship product grew rather than fell. Comscore, based in Reston, Virginia, tracks digital and TV audiences and movie ticket sales.

From news reports BUSINESS DIGEST BY ANNIKA MERRILEES St. Louis Post-Dispatch Budweiser has unveiled a new limited-supply black lager in partnership with Jim Beam, the Kentucky bourbon whiskey maker. Anheuser-Busch reported that the black lager, which is aged with the wooden staves from six-year Jim Beam bourbon barrels, has a toasted malt taste, chocolate and coffee notes, and an alcohol con- tent of 7.1% by volume. Last September, the companies released a limited-edition beer called Budweiser Reserve Copper Lager, which was also aged with Jim Beam bourbon barrel staves. Budweiser Reserve Black Lager will be available from October through December, while sup- plies last.

The copper lager, which has a toasted oak aroma and nutty taste, is available through March 2020. Chris Shepard, a senior edi- tor of Craft Brew News, said that these reserve beers are a way for Budweiser to play in a space that has mostly been owned by craft beer. Innovation, one-offs and col- laborations, he said, are all meth- ods that the craft beer industry frequently uses. Over the past decade, Shepard said, companies have struggled with sales of cheaper beers, while the sector, which includes imports, cider and craft beer, has sold better. This year, he said, that trend may be accelerating.

Anheuser-Busch owns several craft breweries, including Goose Island Beer purchased in 2011; Elysian Brewing which it bought in 2015; and Wicked Weed Brewing, purchased in 2017. As of Sept. 14, Bud Light is down 7.7% in volume this year, and Budweiser is down 6.6%. This is according to Nielsen data, provided by Shepard, that largely tracks sales at grocery and conve- nience stores. Budweiser, Jim Beam team up again BY ANNIKA MERRILEES St.
