Keen gervlra NEW YORK, Dec. 5-Old 10-cent comic books are now being sold for prices ranging from S2 to $25.

The old comics, especially those published in the early 1940s, are now considered collector's items. Fans of Captain Marvel and Superman seek them at a back-date magazine store on the Avenue of the Americas. Louis Cohen, the store owner, says that customers for the old comics include nostalgic men in their 20s and 30s, pop artists studying the techniques of early cartoonists, and colleges and universities studying the social attitudes of the times that are reflected in them. Even some of the cartoonists who originally created the comics visit the store occasionally to purchase their own works. The most popular ones are old issues of Superman, Captain Marvel, Batman and Robin and comics published in World War II when many of the cartoon heroes went to war.

IMCtUr I QUEBEC CITY, Dec. 5 (UPI) A judicial investigator concluded last night that a Canadian prospector was justly convicted and hanged in the 1953 killings of three Pennsylvania hunters in the Gaspe bush. The investigator rejected allegations that the prospector, Wilbur Coffin, had been unjustly convicted merely to satisfy American public opinion.

In a 754-page report on the controversial case, Montreal Superior Court Judge Roger Brossard found that the evidence "confirmed rather than contradicted" the guilt of Coffin. Coffin was hanged in 1956 after being convicted specifically of the murder of Richard Lind-sey, 17, of Hollidaysburg, Pa. Lindsey'a father and a teen-aged friend also were killed. Book Led To Review Brossard, acting as a one-man Royal Commission, painstakingly investigated the Coffin case after a book, published a year ago, alleged that he was railroaded to the gallows. The jurist castigated the book, by Jacques Hebert, as "a sea of a 1 ods, inexactitudes, half-truths and abuses." In his finding, Brossard criticized the press and urged revisions in laws governing freedom of the press and defamatory libel.

The jurist urged that one editor be cited for contempt, rebuked two lawyers in the case and called on the Quebec bar to reexamine Its code of professional ethics. Alleged Falsehoods The judge's finding climaxed a six-month investigation in which he heard 3,000,000 words of testimony. He described as false 23 major allegations made by author Hebert. Gravel for unethical conduct.

The attorneys, who served as defense counsel for Coffin, could face disbarr-ment if the Quebec Bar acts against them. Brossard censured Maher for "clandestinely" disposing of a rifle from Coffin's bush camp when It might have served as evidence at Ms trial and Gravel for attempting to deceive the Royal Commission in its investigation. The jurist did not recommend action against Hebert because of his book, but the author nonetheless faces libel suits seeking a total of They were filed by three of eight Quebec officials Hebert accused of conspiring to frame Coffin. Editor Criticized Brossard recommended that editor Jean-Luc Lacroix of the weekly Quebec Journal be cited for contempt for publishing reports about the inquiry before its finding was handed down. Brossard dismissed as "humbug" the 1958 confession of Canadian Indian Francis Thompson to the alleged killing of two men near where the Pennsylvania hunters died.

Thompson later retracted the statement and said he made it to obtain deportation from Florida where he was held on a theft indictment. Lindsey, his son and the other youth were hunting bear in the wild Gaspe area about June 12, 1953. The precise date of the killings was never determined. Their bodies, torn by bears, were found a month later. Two of them bore bullet holes.

How the third died never was determined. No murder weapon was found. Denied Guilt on Gallows Coffin, a prospector, was the last identified person with whom Richard Lindsey was seen alive. He had agreed to help the hunters with a stalled truck and drove to Gaspe with, young Lindsey to get a fuel pump. They left to return to the hunters' camp.

Coffin was arrested Aug. 28, 1953. He was convicted by a jury Aug. 5, 1954. On his attorney's advice, he did not testify at his trial but went to the gallows denying guilt.
