Louis area. East St. Louis police said that Richard Eastern 16 years old, of the 700. block of Trendley avenue, was shot twice after he and two companions matched a purse from Miss Beverly Shel-ton, 1923 Fifth street, Madison, in the 300 block of North Sixth street, Saturday night. to automobile struck the right rear of one vehicle, caromed across Natural Bridge and hit a traffic signal standard, then struck the second automobile and came to rest against a fire hydrant. Gates was thrown from his auto when it struck the second car. His automobile traveled 120 feet from the point where the first car was hit, police said. An off-duty policeman, Patrolman George Tiffany, 5753 Era avenue, operator of the second automobile that was struck, suffered an injury to his right knee. The operator of the third vehicle, Irwin Wreck, 7218 Burr-wood drive, Normandy, was not injured.

Eastern was taken to St. Mary's Hospital, East St. Louis. George Vick, a student at Sol-dan High School, was stabbed twice in the abdomen by two men who attempted to rob him and a companion at Union boulevard and Wabada avenue Saturday night. Vick, 17, of 5311 Wells avenue, told police the attack occurred when he and Leonard Carter, 16, of 1219 Montclair avenue, refused to give the robbers their money.

Carter stopped a passing police patrol car, which took Vick to MOUTH.TO-MOUTH RESUSCITATION REVIVES INFANT Jeffery Behmen, nine months old, was revived yesterday by mouth-to-mouth resuscitation employed by a policeman, a physician and his father. Patrolman Joseph Johnson, responding to an appeal for help, found Richard Behmen using artificial respiration on his son in the home at 2719A Gravois avenue. The infant, suffering from a severe cold, appeared to be dying, Johnson said. Johnson applied mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. He instructed Behmen to continue the effort and radioed for an ambulance.

EMPLOYES and customers in two taverns were held up Saturday night by an armed man who concealed his features with a handkerchief. Police said both robberies apparently were committed by the same man. Entering the Boulevard Bar, 1033 Chouteau avenue, at 11 o'clock, the robber ordered Anton F. Gemel, a bartender, and three other persons to lie on the floor. He stole $176 from the cash register and a total of $27 from John Mitchell, 4654 Greer avenue; Richard Breitenfeld, 3904 Dun-nica avenue, and Andrew Mc-Taggert, Zalma, Mo.

Williams had a history of chronic bronchitis, Dr. Gilmore said. Dr. Gilmore said he regretted the incident, but that it was the sort of thing that happened from time to time. Williams told doctors on his second visit, about 1:50 p.m.

Dec. 19, that all he wanted was a clinic card, but never applied for it at the clinic, Dr. Gilmore said. The committee, whose chairman is Alderman Albert Villa Eleventh ward, is conducting an investigation of emergency room and admitting procedures in the wake of the Williams death. Skubic, arrested Sept. 26 in a nationwide drive by the Internal Revenue Service against gamblers, today was fined $1000 and sentenced to a year in jail. United States District Judge James H. Meredith placed Skubic on probation for one year on the jail sentence.

Skubic, a former bakery supply dealer, was arrested in a house near Arnold, in Franklin county. Federal agents reported finding evidence that bets totaling $346 had been accepted. The defendant pleaded guilty. Dec. 9 of failing to pay an excise tax on bets and to purchase wagering stamps.
